Høvringen
The mountain village of Høvringen is situated at 1000 m.a.s.l. in the
north of Gudbrandsdalen, as the western gateway to Rondane National
Park. The area is well known to have a reliable, dry climate and great,
varied hiking-country.
Prepared ski tracks during the winter season and marked walking routes
in the summer invites
you to a spectacular outdoor experience.
Originally, Høvringen was a large "seter"; a collection of bulidings
used by farmers' families whilst their animals were at their summer
pasture in the mountains. The first "setrer" began to receive guests
in the early 1800s. Its proximity to the Rondane mountain ranges has
contributed to Høvringen's long traditions as a tourist destination.
We will willingly help you arrange your stay in Høvringen and give
good advice and guidelines on walks, skiing opportunities and other
activities. In Høvringen you'll also find a village store, a pub and a
ski shop with skiing
equipment rental, in addition to about 200 private cabins.
